Default layout for the remote is configured for the support of the following application softwares: Winamp, Windows Media Player, Internet Explorer, PowerPoint, Word, you can configure five more applications of which you require remote support.

Although this package is very simple to use, working knowledge of computers and a very good memory is required in the user.

System Requirement, Installation and Troubleshooting

System Requirement

One free 9 pin Serial Port (com1, com2, com3 or com4), for USB version - one free USB port.

Celeron 500Mhz, P2 500Mhz, P3, P4, AMDK6 450Mhz, AMD Athlon, Duron etc are supported

Memory : 64MB RAM and 5MB free disk space

RemoteM@te package comes with one Receiver, one Remote Control, one CD ROM containing RemoteM@te software package, source code of Winlirc and Winamp3. (May change to keep up with progress)

Installation Guide

Just run setup.exe from the installation CD. If the system asks for restart, do so.

Plug the receiver, Run RemoteM@te from Startup.

Doubleclick on RM icon, select correct serial port where the receiver is plugged in, click ‘Hide’.

Press 10+ on your Remote and change paths of the programme according to your computers installation.

Go through HELP.

Remember this is evolving technology. If you are not comfortable with the technology, do not modify default settings. Explore, if it doesn’t work start again.

Will it work with laptop serial port, laptop irda or usb-irda?

It will work with laptop serial port.

It doesnt work with laptop IrDA/usb IrDA.

It will not work with virtual serial port like USB-Serial.

Get the USB version.

Darn thing doesn't work help!!!

Plug the receiver properly.

Select the correct port where the receiver is plugged.

Do the remote check to see if the software is detecting the remote.

Keep the receiver away from any source of Infrared radiation like: CPU, power supply, other electrical equipments, sunlight, cooking range, equatorial sub Saharan region and all such places.

Check if you have put batteries in the remote.

If you have firewall installed, give all access to RemoteM@te.

While installing if you have any error messages just ignore those and continue, keep new DLLs.

Some functions may not work in some verisons of Windows.

For Linux you do everything yourself, 'coz you are smart!!

Set the path in RemoteM@te configuration software to reflect your system setup, default takes c:\program files as default directory and Winamp3, WMP9, Office10 as default programmes.

This software and hardware will not cause any harm to your system nor modify or delete any files, so do not be afraid to experiment, try all sorts of settings, keep back up of remotemate.ini before you start modifying it.

There are no serviceable parts in the receiver/transmitter, do not try to repair it yourself, you might do grave harm to your computer ports, just throw them away once they stop working.
